Transglabellar resection of frontal sinus cholesterol granuloma extending cranially through cecum foramina: Technical note
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Cholesterol granuloma (CG) commonly occurs in the petrous apex; their occurrence anterior cranial fossa CGs is rare. Subfrontal approaches are conventional surgical for resection of midline lesions and frontal sinuses. In this article, we describe a successful minimally invasive approach small CG. Methods: We report rare case air sinus CG extending intradurally through foramen caecum. The management patient involved use transglabellar butterfly incision outcomes at 1 year after surgery. Results: lesion was totally resected with no complications discharged on 3 rd postoperative day. A 1-year follow-up scan showed neither residual nor recurrence lesion. Conclusion: offers safe from sinuses to complications, shorter hospital stay, good cosmetic results.

Frontal sinus cholesterol granuloma: Case report
A case report of a massive cholesterol granuloma (CG) of the frontal sinus in a 15-year-old male subject treated endoscopically is reported. CGs are slowly expanding, cystic lesions that are rarely observed in the frontal sinus. Frontal sinus CGs characteristically present with proptosis, diplopia, and a unilateral painless expanding mass above the orbit. Patients frequently report a history of...
متن کاملCholesterol Granuloma of the Frontal Sinus: A Case Report
Cholesterol granulomas are common in the mastoid antrum and air cells of the temporal bone. In the paranasal sinuses, especially in the frontal sinus, they have occasionally been mentioned in the literature. The pathogenesis is unknown, but the majority of the authors support the concept of airway obstruction in the cells well pneumatised of temporal bone and paranasal sinuses. The authors repo...
متن کاملLarge cholesterol granuloma arising from the frontal sinus--case report.
A 59-year-old male presented with a large cholesterol granuloma arising from the frontal sinus manifesting as a large, fluctuated, soft mass in his brow, compressing left eye. Skull radiography showed dilation of the frontal sinus. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a cystic mass extending into the left orbit and anterior cranial fossa. Gross inspection at the frontal c...
متن کاملCombined supraciliary and endoscopic endonasal approach for resection of frontal sinus mucoceles: technical note.
OBJECTIVE Mucoceles are progressive, slow-growing lesions of the paranasal sinuses that, left untreated, can erode into surrounding structures. Complete obliteration and exenteration of the frontal sinus via a bicoronal skin incision and frontal craniotomy is the standard neurosurgical approach to treat these lesions. TECHNIQUE We describe two patients who underwent a combined supraciliary "k...

This 36-year-old man presented with a threemonth history of headaches which he attributed to sinusitis. He took several courses of antibiotics which did not relieve his symptoms. He began to gradually develop fullness and a lump in the midline of his forehead over the frontal sinus region. Sinus plain radiographs demonstrated ‘sinusitis’ for which he was referred to an otolaryngologist who arra...
